Alexey Rybin Dominates WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Day 2
Day 2 of the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic was dominated by Russian poker player Alexey Rybin and he now holds a dominant lead as the tournament heads towards its final stages.
103 players started Day 2 of the $4,400 buy-in tournament but at the end there were only 31 remaining that will return to take part in the penultimate day of the event.
The biggest shock of Day 2 was the exit of Sam Trickett who shoved during the first level of the day with an Ace of Hearts and Two of Diamonds; however, he couldn’t find the Ace he needed to beat the pocket Queens of Mikhail Shevchuk.
Also bust during the first level were Party Poker Big Game winner Roger Hairabedian and Party Poker ambassador Kara Scott.
The Day 1 chip leader, Bernard Samaha, looked extremely impressive at the start of the day as he bust Mihail Morozov in the second level, however, after that he stayed fairly anonymous and finished the day with 17,000 chips less than he started with.
The start of Day 3 is sure to be tense, 27 of the remaining 31 players will cash and no player will want to be amongst the first to fall.
