King To Close Older Titles
The social game publisher King is planning to close down some of its games in order to shift resources to its upcoming releases.
King, best known for Candy Crush Saga, has a number of social games. However, following the success of Candy Crush, the company is planning on closing Facebook access to older titles such as Hoop de Loop Saga, Bubble Saga, Miner Speed and Puzzle Saga. However, they will still be available on King.com
A King spokesperson has said that, “It’s a resource decision. The games need to be maintained in order to continue to offer a strong player experience. Where we prioritize our time and efforts is a key decision, and we believe that we should focus on developing new titles and maintaining a gameplay experience for our key titles such as Candy Crush Saga, Pet Rescue Saga, and Farm Heroes Saga. All of these games are in the top 10 game apps on the platform. Papa Pear Saga and Bubble Witch Saga reside in the top 15 games on Facebook.”
The publisher has plans to release a number of new Facebook games and also expand its development, it currently employs around 550 people and wishes to hire a further 200 this year.
