Gus Hansen Enjoys Celebrity Status at UKIPT Galway Festival
Gus Hansen had a busy week at the Full Tilt Poker UKIPT Galway Festival. He started off by winning Event #8 €1,000+€100 UK vs. Ireland Heads-Up Championship and then went on to have a go at the €35+€5 Daily Grind and finish second.
The fans have been eager to watch Hansen play; he has been signing autographs and taking pictures all week. It seems that he is so popular in Ireland (particularly after winning the UK vs. Ireland Heads-Up Championship) that he has even accepted the keys to the city from Mayor Padraig Conneely.
When not playing poker Hanson could be found with his fellow players and fans in the Players’ Lounge enjoying games of billiards and backgammon.
It has also been reported that Hansen challenged FTP UKIPT ambassador Sinem Melin to a game of pool.
Apparently she declined but the two formed an alliance to play doubles and take on any challengers.
While playing Hansen was rushing back and forth between the table and the poker tournament he was playing in.
