Facebook to Enter Mobile Games Publishing
Facebook has announced its plans to enter the world of mobile games publishing; the company said that it would publish games for developers in return for a share of the revenue.
The company announced the plans at the Casual Connect conference earlier this week and accompanied the announcement with a blog post saying that the publishing platform is being aimed at small and medium sized developers.
Victor Medeiros of Facebook write, “Through the program, we will work with select game developers and provide promotional support for their games in placements across our mobile apps. This will bring new, high-quality mobile games to the millions of Facebook users who love to play games.”
Facebook will be able to help developers reach its 800 million monthly active users on the mobile and 260 million users engaged in social gaming. Facebook is also claiming it can ensure the games are target to the right kind of users.
Additionally Facebook will be sharing analytics tools with developers. It is not yet known what percentage of the revenues Facebook will be asking for in return for the services.
