Stygher Wins Biggest Ever PokerStars MicroMillions Prize
Over the weekend the PokerStars MicroMillions 5 online tournament came to an end and Linthuania’s “stygher” won the Main Event and walked away with $160,726, the largest prize ever won in the tournament.
At first it didn’t look like a record would be hit, at the start of the $22 tournament there were less than 32,000 players registered which meant the prize pool hadn’t reached $640,000. Luckily late registration is an option and after an hour there were over 50,000 entrants. In the end a total of 59,213 players signed up to create a prize pool of $1,184,260.
After eleven hours of play the field was reduced to the final nine. Stygher was in second place over all with 125,256,892 chips behind “lacostae” with 128,431,177. Unfortunately for lacostae he was eliminated in fourth place.
Eventually stygher faced a player known as “S3XXYMUCK” heads-up. Beginning heads-up play S3XXYMUCK had about a 100 million chip lead, 348,238,700 to 243,891,300. The heads-up lasted for 37 hands but it didn’t take long for stygher to gain the chip lead.
In the end stygher won the tournament with a pair of jacks.
