Celebrities Dropping in WSOP Main Event
The first day of the World Series of Poker Main Event is over and most of poker’s big names breezed through with no problems.
However, there were some other big names, not known for their poker skills, which were quickly knocked out the competition.
UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre might be known for his patience and strategy in the Octagon, but he has none at the poker table.
At first there were 6,352 players in the tournament, each of which paid $10,000 to enter, however, soon there will be just 9 left who will meet in November to play the final table.
Notable names still in the competition include Joe Hachem, Pius Heinz, Jonathan Duhamel, Jamie Gold, Dan Harrington, Phil Hellmuth, Carlos Mortensen, Huck Seed and Jerry Yang, as well as Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey.
There are some more celebrities taking part including actors Jason Alexander, Brad Garrett, Kevin Pollack, Ray Romano and Jennifer Tilly.
The winner will take home just under $8.4 million while the final 648 players will finish in the money. The top seven will claim at least $1 million each while the 648th player will receive just over $19,000.
