Betsafe Joins Belgian Blacklist
Four more domains have been added to the list of gambling sites banned in Belgium. Amongst others on the list, the Belgian Gaming Commission has added Betsafe and InterCasino. Both sites are licensed in Malta and are well regarded in the gambling community.
Belgium has now banned 78 different domains and this number looks set to grow even bigger. Under new rules only land based casino in Belgium may apply for online gambling licenses.
This has led to a number of online operators, such as WMS and Bwin.Party, pairing up with local casinos in order to receive licenses.
Bwin.Party partnered with Groupe Partouche in order to launch its Belgian gambling site.
Last month five other sites were added to the blacklist including the Gibraltar based BetVictor.com prompting its CEO, Michael Carlton, to author a public letter slamming the Belgian regime.
Other well-known brands on the list include as Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Ladbrokes, Unibet, 888 and Sportingbet
The Belgian authorities will only issue a limited number of online licenses and the law explicitly forbids operators to “operate in any place, in any form and in any direct or indirect manner, games of chance or gambling establishments without a license.”
