David Chiu Wins Fifth WSOP Bracelet
David Chiu has won the $2,500 seven-card stud Event 23 at the WSOP and taken home a massive $145,520 in prize money.
The win came after he managed to defeat Scott Seiver in a heads-up and Chiu dedicated his win to Dr. Jerry Buss.
This was Chiu’s fifth bracelet win and ties him with 10 others players in the all-time bracelet standing.
After his win Chiu said, “I am dedicating this gold bracelet to Dr. Jerry Buss. This is for him, because he had so much love for this game. We all miss him so much. I want to do this for him and it’s why I played so hard to win.”
In total Chiu has won over $3.3 million at the WSOP over the years thanks to 57 cashes, including three this Series.
Seven of the final eight players in the event were previous WSOP bracelet winners; Freddy Ellis, Scott Seiver, Michael Mizrachi, Frank Kassela, Gary Benson and Adam Friedman. The final player was Matthew Ashton, it was his third final table of this series having already finished second and third in other events.
