Players Gather for 44th WSOP
On May 29th poker players from across the globe will meet at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for the 44th WSOP.
The WSOP is the highlight of the live tournament year with thousands of players trying to win a gold bracelet.
This year the event will take place over 48 days which culminates in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship, the most sought after title in poker. Last year’s winner Greg Merson walked away with $8.5 million.
The vice president of corporate communications for Caesars Entertainment, Seth Palansky, which owns the Rio and WSOP, said: “We are very fortunate.
When you have been around 43-plus years, we have tradition on our side and we continue to provide tremendous value and opportunity for poker players of all levels, both in terms of experience and bankroll.
The World Series of Poker is a confluence of Summer Camp and the Summer Olympics, where it is a reunion of sorts with your friends.
Plus you meet new people who become friends and you compete at the highest level with poker players from all over the world, with a real shot at life-changing money.”
