A man from New Jersey has claimed his half of a $198 million Mega Millions Jackpot.

Giuseppe Garofalo has chosen to receive his winnings as cash, this means that he will receive $73,279,052 before the federal government tax of 25% and the state tax of 3%.

Before the May 17th draw Garofalo bought $10 worth of tickets at a Lukoil on Shrewsbury Avenue, he went to claim his prize over last weekend.

Garofalo is sharing the jackpot with another winner from Virgina.

According to lottery officials Garofalo didn’t go into detail about his job or his plans for the money.

According to the lottery’s executive directory, Carole Hedinger, before claiming his prize Garofelo signed the ticket, put it somewhere safe and considered what would be best to do with the money.

According to Hedinger Garofalo “did everything right that you could ask of a winner of a jackpot of this size. We love to see our winners do all of that before they come forward.”

The store where Garofalo bought the ticket will receive a portion of a $30,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
