First Legal US Online Poker Site Goes Live

The first legal online poker site in the US has been launched by Station Casinos LLC, the casino company which is led by Las Vegas’ Fertitta family.
In order to access the site, players must be at least 21 years old and physically within the state of Nevada’s boundaries. The site, ultimatepoker.com, is being marketed in collaboration with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a mixed martial arts business which is also owned by the Fertittas.
So far Nevada has granted 20 online gambling licenses to casinos and service companies which provide gambling technology. According to the state’s laws only Nevada based casinos can provide play.
Delaware and New Jersey have also passed online gambling laws recently, however, operations are not expected to begin until November.
H2 Gaming Capital has said that it expected that by 2017 the online gambling industry will be worth $7.4 billion in the US. H2’s founder, Simon Holliday, has said that Nevada will be contributing about $400 million a year by then.
Station Casinos LLC is controlled by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, brothers who inherited their father’s casino company. In total Station operates 17 casinos across Nevada and Michigan.
