Betfred Staff Win £100,000 at William Hill
Two members of staff from a Betfred Liverpool office have won £100,000 from a fantasy horse racing competition being run by competitors William Hill.
Betfred area manager Donna Foxcroft and shop manager Wayne Murphy entered the £2-a-go contest called The Jumps, which lasted five months.
Foxcrot and Murphy’s entry tied with another entry from Sheffield and a live draw took place to decide on the winners.
Foxcroft said that “it was a very nail-biting time. I am seven months pregnant and have no plans to call my baby Simonsig – after one of our winning horses or even Bob, after the team name. I actually named our two entries ‘Should Have Had Bobs Worth’ and ‘Really Wanted Bobs Worth’, but Wayne was keen to have Sprinter Sacre, so by the last day of the contest all our horses had run. We both stayed up until 3am on the final day of the competition and worked out who could beat us – we would have lost the contest if Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth had been a bigger price than 11-4.”
A William Hill insider said that it was “ironic to discover that the main cheque will be going to an area manager at a rival firm.”
