Louisiana’s Casino Winning in February 2013
Winnings of Louisiana’s state-licensed casinos for the month of February have been released. Collectively the state’s casinos took close to $226.9 million last month; a considerable $25.4 million increase compared to January 2013 figures.
However, the takings are still down $6.6 million from last year’s results.
Lake Charles’ The Isle of Capri riverboat casino, Vinton’s Delta Downs slot machine casino and New Orleans’ Harrah’s land casino are the only establishments that walked away with more than in February 2012.
Despite the Isle of Capri’s success, the rest of the 13 state-licensed riverboat casinos performed worse than expected with collective winnings of $159.9 million which put them down 9.7% compared to last year.
The picture was similar in the Lake Charles market where including L’Auberge Lake Charles and Delta Downs, the overall intake of $52.8 million was 7.3% lower than February 2012.
In the city of New Orleans itself casinos produced the smallest drop, around 2% compared to last year, in any market. The city’s main attraction remained L’Auberge Baton Rouge which reported double the attendance of the city’s other two major casinos, Belle of Baton Rouge and Hollywood Casino.
