Winner of $30 Million Jackpot Remains Anonymous

The winner of a $30 million jackpot from Saturday’s LOTTO6/49 will be claiming the prize later this week.

The winning ticket was bought in Hamilton, but due to regulations the winner’s identity cannot be revealed until the prize has been collected.
The winning ticket was bought in Hamilton and the luckily winner found out about their win on Sunday afternoon after a store clerk checked the ticket. When the machine checks the numbers, if the prize is over $10,000 then it does not reveal the amount won. Instead an OLG prize manager will call the store and speak to the winner.
OLG spokesperson, Sarah Kiriluk, said that the idea is “to assist people in getting their prize … this is a life-changing event and we want to give them as much information as possible.”
Until the prize is claimed OLG is unable to say exactly where the ticket was bought or who the winner is. Kiriluk said, “we want to ensure the right prize is given to the right person so the winner has to be able to answer where the ticket was purchased.”
Whoever the lucky winner was they overcame odds of one in 13 million to win the jackpot and more details are sure to be revealed when they collect the prize later this week.
