WSOP Offers Women Discount on Women’s Only Event
The schedule for the WSOP 2013 has been released and one of the planned events is the Ladies Only No-Limit Hold’em Championship.
This year the organises have taken steps to ensure that the event remains women’s only.
In previous years a number of men have entered the women’s event claiming gender equality as there are no men’s only events in the World Series of Poker.
However, this year the tournament has a $10,000 buy-in for men and women can receive a 90% discount and pay just $1,000.
The organisers have said that a law enacted by the Nevada Legislature in 2011 allows them to run women’s only events.
The law governs gender-based marketing and promotional offers and allows women to receive reduced prices on drinks, food and entertainment and venues such as restaurants and casinos.
This year’s World Series of Poker will take play from May 29th – July 15th at the Rio, there will be 480 poker tables spread across three ballrooms. The tournament will include five events that have prizes worth millions of dollars.
