2013 Oscars Betting Market
The drama “Argo” won three prizes this week at the British Academy Film Awards and is now tipped to win a number of Oscars.
The Iran-hostage drama, based on the plan to rescue a group of American diplomats from Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, won the awards for Best-Picture and Editing. Additionally, Ben Affleck was named best director.
Argo is now favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture with odds of 1/6 at William Hill.
The film is also favourite to with Best Editing with odds of 2/5, however, Ben Affleck does not feature in the Oscar list for Best Director.
Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg, is another strong contender for awards. However, the film only picked up one of the ten prizes it was nominated for at the British Academy Film Awards, Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best-Actor Trophy.
Lincoln is also expected to do well at the Oscars; it is second favourite to win Best Picture at 4/1 and favourite to win Best Director at 1/5. Daniel Day-Lewis is also favourite to win the Best Actor trophy with odds of 1/50.
