Father Hires Virtual Hitmen To Destroy Son’s Gaming Avatar
A father in China became so concerned about his unemployed son’s gaming addiction that he hired online hitmen to kill his son’s avatar.
Mr Feng blames his son’s love of RPG games for his unemployment and decided to hire high-level players to kill his son’s character every time he went online.
Feng told a Chinese newspaper that his son began playing in high school and his grades soon suffered apparently he has also struggled to keep a job since graduating.
However, Mr Feng’s plan seems to have failed, his son asked the other players why they kept targeting him and he soon found out the truth.
Afterwards he told his father, “I can play or I can not play, it doesn’t bother me.
I’m not looking for any job—I want to take some time to find one that suits me.”
Professor Mark Griffiths, a gambling and addictions expert at Nottingham Trent University said that “It’s not going to do much for family relations.
I’ve never heard of that kind of intervention before, but I don’t think these top-down approaches work. Most excessive game playing is usually a symptom of an underlying problem.”
