Betting on the Royal Baby
A few days ago it was announced that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is pregnant and of course all the bookies rushed to open up some betting markets.
Of course the first question to be answered is the sex of the baby.
While you might think that the odds should be equal on both, Paddy Power has decided that there is a 10/11 chance of it being a boy and a 4/5 chance of a girl.
Next is the question of the baby’s name, of course there is a huge range of options with a good selection of traditional royal names in the mix.
Paddy Power thinks that the most likely name for a boy is George with odds of 7/6, if it’s a girl then Victoria is leading the way with odds of 6/1.
Not far behind George and Victoria are Elizabeth (8/1), Louis and Philip (both at 9/1).
Of course you can choose from some fairly unlikely names as well, Frogmella, Peaches, Windsor and Hashtag are all at 500/1 while Brooklyn, Chardonnay and Waynetta are at 1000/1.
There is also some speculation that the Duchess is expecting twins, you’ll find odds ranging from 5/1 up to 10/1 on twins and you can even find 50/1 on triplets.
