Spider-Man Creator Turns to Gaming
Mobile game start-up Moonshark has teamed up with POW! Entertainment to create an action-adventure game, Verticus.
Specifically Moonshark will be working with Stan Lee, the comic book writer who co-created a number of Marvel’s biggest characters such as Spider-Man, and is now chairman and chief creative officer at POW! Entertainment.
The game was announced at Lee’s Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles and it will be available later this autumn.
Lee said that “working closely with Moonshark to build characters and storylines for a mobile game has been a new and uniquely satisfying experience for me.
Making Verticus is a new way for me to connect with my fans and reach a whole new group of people through their mobile devices.”
Verticus is a superhero who must save the world from imminent destruction by an alien called the Obliterators.
Verticus is dressed in a special jumpsuit which allows him to free fall through space and avoid obstacles. As well as being intrinsically involved in designing the game, Lee actually appears in it as the mission commander.
If the game is popular then Lee and Moonshark have plans for expansion. At present Moonshark say that over time there will be updates and potentially sequels as well as other extensions of the brand.
