$337 Million Powerball Jackpot Winner Revealed
It has been revealed that Donald Lawson, from Lapeer Mich. is the winner of the $337 million Powerball jackpot from earlier this month.
In a press conference Lawson said that has just left a job as a railroad engineer after discovering that he had won. Lawson was joined at the press conference by his mother, sister and brother-in-law.
The winning ticket was purchased at a gas station in the town of Lapeer where Dawson has lived for about ten years. He said that when he checked the ticked he lost his breath, “sat there and said a prayer then called my sister and told her to come home right now… then I told them.”
Lawson chose to receive the money in one lump sum which amounts to about $224 million after taxes making it the third largest Powerball win in history.
Lawson says that despite being a millionaire his life won’t change much. He said that he still prefers McDonalds to mignons or lobster and that he wants a simple life which what he’ll continue to have.
The biggest ever U.S. lottery jackpot was won earlier this year in March when the $656 million Mega Millions jackpot was shared by three winning tickets.
