Gladiator Director’s Brother Jumps Off Los Angeles Bridge
Tony Scott, director of Hollywood hits such as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cops 2 and Day of Thunder, died Sunday after jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles Harbor.
At 12:35pm on Sunday, several people called 911 to report that someone had jumped off the bridge. A few hours later, a dive team pulled Scott’s body from the water. Investigators found Scott’s black Toyota Prius parked on the bridge. A note with contact information was found in the car. Later in the day, a suicide note was found at his office.
Scott’s older brother Ridley is also a prominent Hollywood director. Both brothers had huge success on the silver screen. Ridley is responsible for Gladiator, a hit that has led to at least 2 online slot games.
While Ridley was known for creating “entire worlds” in his movies (Gladiator, Blade Runner and Alien), Tony excelled in action and style with movies like Top Gun and Days of Thunder.
The Vincent Thomas Bridge has been featured in many Hollywood productions, including Charlie’s Angels, Gone in 60 Seconds and The Fast and the Furious.
