Jennifer Aniston Announces Engagement to Justin Theroux
At the beginning of the week People magazine reported that Jennifer Aniston, originally famous for her role as Rachel in Friends, has announced that she is engaged to marry her boyfriend actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux.
Actress Jennifer Aniston and actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux have announced their engagement.
Theroux’s representative was quoted as saying that “Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston accepted his proposal of marriage.”
The engagement was confirmed by Aniston’s publicist Steven Huvane. The couple have been dating for over a year and appeared together in the comedy “Wanderlust” last February. They have not yet announced a wedding date.
When contacted by a reported asking for comment on the news, Aniston’s father, actor John Aniston, feigned complete shock saying “It’s the first I’ve heard about it, it’s a surprise to me, I’ll have to look online.” However, according to Huvane, Aniston senior did in fact know about the engagement but was unsure when it would become public “so when he was caught off guard on the phone, he didn’t want to be tricked, so he pretended not to know.”
This will be Aniston’s second marriage; her first, with Brad Pitt ended in divorce in 2005 after five years together. The marriage is thought to have ended because Pitt fell in love with actress Angelina Jolie; they too recently announced their engagement but have not mentioned a date yet.
Aniston has had her love life closely followed by celebrity media across the globe ever since the divorce. This is probably because she is one of Hollywood’s favourite actresses and appears regularly in romantic comedies,
Prior to dating Justin Theroux, Aniston was known to have dated singer John Mayer and actor Vince Vaughn. This will be the first time that Theroux will wed.
