Betting on the next James Bond

It’s been four long years since the last James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, was released. Skyfall, the next James Bond movie, is expected to hit theaters around the world in October of this year. This will be actor Daniel Craig’s third time in the role of 007.

Craig is the 6th actor to portray Bond. He is scheduled to continue his role in a 4th film, scheduled for release in 2014. But all good things must come to an end. One of these years – or decades – Craig will move on and the world will await another James Bond actor. Who will it be?

Believe it or not, Paddy Power offers bets on who the next James Bond will be! Topping off the list is Sam Worthington with 7 to 2 odds. Orlando Bloom (of Lord of the Rings fame) has 16 to 1 odds. Is the world ready for Will Smith as James Bond? Paddy Power says “maybe” with 25 to 1 odds – pretty decent in this long list of over 40 actors.

Ewan McGregor gets 33 to 1 odds to become the next Bond. It’s the end of the list that starts to get interesting (and funny!). How about Russell Crowe as James Bond? That’ll get you 80 to 1 odds. Hugh Grant as James Bond? At 100 to 1, we suggest the odds are closer to a million to 1!
