Charity Gambling Event Sees Poker and Hollywood Celebs Compete
Last week an incredibly successful gambling charity event was held by the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) as part of an effort to raise funds for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. A variety of gambling celebrities, Hollywood faces and even people from Congress managed to make it to the event and turn out an impressive $60,000.
One of the most famous gambling stars to hit the poker tables was Andy Bloch, who told Poker News Daily that playing alongside the Paralyzed Veterans of America was a great feeling, since it is rare t actually have the recipients of the charity be present at the event. Bloch was accompanied by two other well known gambling icons; the three time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker, Barry Greenstein, and the Pokerstars professional, Victor Randin.
Held at Coors Field, the charity gambling event also saw the Pearl Harbor star, Ben Affleck, rock up to the tables. According to reports, Affleck emerged as the victor that night, being the dominant hip leader even when play was fice handed. Seth Myers from SNL also made an appearance, and had a win from the Bravo “Celebrity Poker Showdown” show to back him up. Also present was Oscar nominee, Richard Dreyfus, and talk-show host, Montel Williams.
Congressman Barney Frank also played a hand at the charity gambling event, alongside the Democratic National Convention which took place simultaneously, as well as congressman Robert Wexler, congresswoman Shelley Berkley, and several others.
The event was held in association with the National Gaming Authority, and there is nothing like winning a hand of poker for charity!
