Casino Gambling May Be Coming to Greece

If you enjoy a night at the casino while on holiday then you may soon be booking flights to Greece as lawmakers are preparing to vote on a bill to legalise casinos in popular tourist destinations.

If the bill passes it will allow casinos in Crete, Santorini and Mykonos as well as allowing the country’s current gambling establishments to relocate. This second part of the law would allow the Regency Casino Mont Parnes, the only casino in the Athens area, to come off the mountain and into the capital.

The vote is expected to take place before Christmas and it is expected to pass. If it does then the Hellenic Gaming Commission would be in charge of licensing the three casinos and regulating any relocation requests. It is hoped that the new casinos will bring in a significant number of tourists.
