Online Virtual Sports Betting Comes to New Jersey
With the battle over sports betting about to go to the US’s Supreme Court, New Jersey has just become the first state to offer online virtual sports betting.
This week Rush Street Interactive launched online and mobile virtual sports betting on its New Jersey gambling site after receiving permission from the state’s regulators to do so. Inspired Gaming, a company that supplies virtual sports betting to land-based and online casinos across Europe, designed the product.
Towards the end of last year Inspired received approval to run virtual sports terminals in Nevada but the New Jersey launch was the first time that the product was available online in the United States. Now two other New Jersey operators, Resorts Digital Gaming and the Golden Nugget, are working on their own plans to launch the service.
Visitors to the site can bet on various sports such as horseracing, greyhound racing, speedway and motor racing. It is also possible to bet on virtual football and more sports are due to be launched in the near future.
The games include simulated commentary and players can watch the action unfold ‘live’ on their screens. Punters are given historical data on the players or animals involved in order to help them make informed bets and a random number generator determines the outcomes.
The games also offer stunning high-definition graphics that truly bring the events to life. Thanks to this, virtual sports betting is already extremely popular across Europe and there is a good chance that it will enjoy similar popularity in the States.
