Betting Surges on Trump Impeachment Following FBI Scandal

Following last week’s controversies there has been a surge in bets placed on Donald Trump being impeached in the near future.

At Betfair more than £5,000 was bet on an early departure for Trump after it was reported that he asked ex-FBI Director James Corney to shut down an investigation into ties between former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russia. The odds on him being impeached dropped from 1/1 to 5/6 after the betting, in other words, there is a 55% chance that he will leave.

Ladbrokes reported a similar situation with their odds shortening to 4/5 after a flurry of bets. Ladbrokes has taken close to £50,000 on Trump’s future including whether he would be impeached and what year it would happen in. In general, political betting is becoming more popular and as scandals continue so is this trend likely to.
