Skill Based Gambling Comes to Las Vegas
Caesars Entertainment has introduced skill based gaming at the Planet Hollywood hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
The games are based upon Texas Hold’em poker and Blackjack. Players compete against each other, not the house, and have to make quick decisions about how to improve their hands. David Hoenemeyer, the regional president of Bally’s, Paris and Planet Hollywood, said that the games are aimed to attract millennials seeking an interactive experience rather than being a zombie in front of a machine.
The news come as the latest data about visitors to Las Vegas was published. Apparently, 69% of visitors gambled last year, slightly down from the previous year. However, the concerning news was that just 4% of visitors came expressly to gamble, down from 15% in 2013. However, visitors’ average gambling budget is up by more than $100 from five years ago.
