Genting Seeks to Reopen Star City Casino

Genting appears to be making plans to reopen the Star City Casino in Birmingham following its closure earlier this year.

Genting closed the casino in January with the loss of roughly 220 jobs. However, they retain a lease on the building so are working on alternative uses for the space. A newly filed planning application suggests that a casino, albeit a much smaller one, could return to the ground floor of the venue where gaming tables are still in place for the training of croupiers.

In a report accompanying the application it says that they want a space to accommodate a casino, leisure and restaurant. The report also said that they are hoping to expand their training facilities. The Star Casino operated for 13 years before being shut down after the opening of the Resorts World complex in 2015.
