Expanded Gambling Facilities May Come to South Florida
A bill is being proposed by the Florida senate that would see a significant expansion of gambling facilities in the south of the state.
The legislation was filed by state Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton and it would give the state two new casinos, the seven racetrack casinos already there would get blackjack and the Seminole casinos would get craps and roulette. However, the Florida House has its own ideas separate from the Senate and both chambers are in negotiations with the Seminole tribe and the governor’s office about an updated gambling agreement.
State Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, R-Miami, has said that he is confident that a bill can be passed and that they are progressing at a quick pace with all sides eager for a new arrangement that accommodates everyone’s needs. However, he doesn’t think it will be quite as expansive as Galvano’s proposals.
