Dr Armin Sageder Appointed CEO of Playtech’s Sports Betting Division
Playtech has appointed Dr Armin Sageder as the CEO of the sports betting ‘Playtech BGT’ division after he joined the company in July. Dr Sageder founded BGT, a Vienna based sports betting provisions supplier, which Playtech bought for €140 million ‘all-cash’.
The appointment means that Playtech has unified its sports betting assets (BGT, Geneity, Mobenga, Unilogic and its in-house trading team) into a new division of Playtech BGT. The division is to be based in Cyprus and Dr Sageder will be reporting directly to the company’s CEO Mor Weizer.
In recent years Playtech has been investing heavily in its sports betting products and the company now has over 600 employees dealing with the division based in Nicosia, Malmo, Vienna, London, Bremen and Sofia.
Playtech has said that it believes Dr Sageder is the right man to deliver its vision of creating a best-in-class omni-channel betting platform for all industry stakeholders. It will now be attempting to become the market leader in sports betting technology and provisions and service all aspects of the industry such as online platform provisions, mobile betting, self-service betting terminals, payments and player management systems.
Weizer said that he is “delighted” with the appointment and that he believes that Dr Sageder will take the company’s sports offering “to the next level.”
Dr Sageder said that he is looking forward to the challenge of his new job and said that the combination of BGT with Playtech’s knowhow and knowledge means that they have the opportunity to “create a powerhouse for the benefit of our clients and their customers.”
