Bookmakers Lengthen Odds on Brexit
The odds on Britain’s EU Referendum are strongly suggesting that the country will vote to remain part of the union.
At most bookmakers the odds on remain are around 1/6 while the odds on leave are considerably longer at 7/2. Furthermore, recent polls have given Remain leads of over 10% adding further support to the bookmakers’ views. Last week’s news in the UK was dominated by pro-remain support from institutions such as the IMF and the Bank of England. While only Boris Johnson made headlines for the Leave side.
In other political betting Boris Johnson is the favourite to be the next Prime Minister with odds of 11/4 at bookmakers such as Bet365 and William Hill. He is followed by George Osborne who until recently was favourite but now has odds of 11/2 at the majority of bookies.
