Bet365 Takes Bulgarian Gambling Regulators To Court

Bet365 has gone to court to appeal Bulgaria’s State Commission on Gambling’s restriction to operate in the country.

In August last year the company received permission to operate in Bulgaria but the regulator then changed its mind and withdrew permission. It said that it had found that Bet365 had violated a number of provisions relating to Bulgarian gambling laws. The operator was first blacklisted by the regulator two years ago alongside a number of other major operators such as 888 and Ladbrokes.

This isn’t the first time that Bet365 has taken a country’s operator to court. Last year it appealed against the decision by Romania’s regulators to cancel the company’s operating rights despite it paying €30 million in back taxes. However, the appeal was rejected by the Appeals Court in Romania earlier this year and Bet365 is still unable to operate there.
