Maryland Casinos Sees August Revenues Increase by 20%

While there has been a lot of news recently regarding falling casino revenues, it seems that it is not all bad news. At the end of last week The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission posted figures showing that revenue increased by 20% year-on-year in August.
There are five casinos in Maryland and they posted overall revenue of $96.7 million. While revenue didn’t increase at all of the casinos the overall trend is certainly encouraging. The Rocky Gap Casino increased revenues by 3.6% to $4.4 million, the Ocean Downs casino saw revenue increase to $6.1 million up by 2.3% and revenue from the new Horseshoe Casino Baltimore reached $27.6 million.
Maryland Live! Casino was the best performer with revenue of $52.1 million but this was actually a drop of 9.1% year-on-year. The Hollywood Casino Perryville also saw revenues fall, 10.8% to $6.6 million.
