Genting Malaysia Reveals $350 Million New York Casino Project

Genting Malaysia has revealed its plans for a casino resort in upstate New York which would include a 125 acre forest garden.

The casino is to be located in Tuxedo, New York, and is known as “The Sterling Forest Resort”. If the project is approved, Genting will build an integrated casino resort with a 125 acre forest garden which will be designed to showcase different types of flowers and plants. It will also have an adventure world and feature seasonal festivals.

Genting is also offering to fund a new highway interchange to connect Route 17 and 17A off the New York State Thruway to help increase traffic to the site.

The interchange would cost an estimated $25 million.

The bid is worth at least $350 million; however, many consider this to be a small amount for upstate New York. It was anticipated that most proposals would cost around $700 million.

A total of 22 different proposals have been submitted for the four casino licenses and Genting is one of the favorites to receive one. It has a good track record and is well financed.
