Dynam Holds Talks with Asian Gaming Operators Regarding Japanese Casino

Dynam Japan Holdings, the Pachinko hall operator, is in talks with a number of Asian gaming operators about building a casino in Japan. Japan’s parliament is currently preparing to debate a bill which would legalize casino gaming in the country.
Dynam’s chairman, Yoji Sato, said that the company is hoping to announce a partnership with one of the operators as soon as a bill is passed. It is believed that Japan has the potential to become the world’s third-biggest gambling market with annual revenues of over $40 billion.Sato said that Dynam has held talks with Melco Crown Entertainment, SJM Holdings and Galaxy Entertainment Group. Furthermore, talks have been held with South Korea’s Paradise Group and NagaCorp. The only company to comment so far is Paradise which said that having examined opportunities in Japan it has decided not to pursue them.
Sato said that “Dynam’s number one focus is on the casino opportunity in Japan.” However, he said that the company isn’t necessarily seeking majority ownership of a casino project but would like to play a leading role in its operation.
Sato is interested in targeting regional markets outside of the large cities, such as Hokkaido in the north and the southern Kyushu area.
