Social Casino Games Extremely Profitable for Publishers

A new report by Distimo shows that social casino games are one of the top-grossing categories in mobile gaming. The report was compiled with data from Distimo AppIQ which compares revenue generated by different publishers in the iOS App Store and Google Play.

When looking at the top overall grossing publishers from March 17th to 23rd, Distimo found that in the App Store 20 of the top 100 publishers had published at least one social casino game, in Google Play the figure was 19 publishers.

However, it seems that the App Store is far more profitable for publishers than Google Play. All seven of the top social casino game publishers generated more revenue on the App Store than Google Play.

It seems that Playtika is the most successful social casino game publisher. It accounted for 21% of total revenue among the top 10 publishers. Big Fish Games was second with 16% of revenue and Zynga was third with 12%. Playtika also leads for Google Play, however, the next highest grossing was Buffalo Studios with an 11% share.
