Once Again Macau Sees $4 Billion in Monthly Gaming Revenues
March was another successful month for Macau’s gaming market with another $4 billion in gaming revenue coming in. The figure is the third highest on record in Macau, just behind February’s $4.8 billion and $4.6 billion last October.Analysts were worried that Macau might suffer from a slow March after the record breaking February during which the Chinese New Year took place. However, these fears proved to be unfounded.
When compared to the first three months of last year, Macau gaming revenue is up almost 20% for the beginning of this year.
Last year Macau casinos collected a record $45.2 billion in gaming revenue and the record could be broken this year.
An analyst for Union Gaming Group, Grant Govertsen, said, “Macau gaming trends are still strong across all relevant segments despite recent macro China fears, as well as concerns on various growth drivers. To date we are not seeing any indications that Macau’s gaming industry is experiencing any such related weakness.”
Overall it seems that analysts are confident about continued growth in Macau with some going as far as to say that there should be double-digit growth figures throughout this year.
