Five British trade associations have collaborated to form the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling.

The group will see the five sectors, the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB), British Amusement & Catering Trade Association (BACTA), Bingo Association (BA), National Casino Forum (NCF) and Remote Gambling Association (RGA), work together on responsible gambling initiatives.

The various associations have already worked together for some time; however, the new group will provide them with a better structure to promote socially responsible gambling.

The first project to be undertaken is a stock-take exercise of responsible gambling initiatives.

The project will highlight good practices that can be shared across sectors and help inform any future projects.

The RGA Chief Executive, Clive Hawkswood, said, “The trade associations have been working together constructively for some time, especially on consumer protection issues, and the establishment of IGRG is a natural evolution of that.”

The Chief Executive of the ABB, Dirk Vennix, also “We hope this group will build on the learnings from the ABB’s Code [for Responsible Gambling and Player Protection] and form a hub for ground-breaking cross-sector initiatives in the future.”
