Wynn Resorts has been granted permission by New Jersey’s gambling regulators to offer internet gambling within the state.

The company has been permitted to operate online gambling in partnership with Caesars Interactive.

The two companies were also given permission to run operations with the All American Poker Network and 888 Atlantic Limited.

However, Wynn Resorts spokesman, Michael Weaver, said this week that the company doesn’t view online gaming as “a good entrepreneurial opportunity. Consequently, our plans are on hold until we understand the business opportunity.”

The state approved Wynn for a transactional waiver that allows it to use one of Caesars Interactive’s New Jersey online gambling licenses. However, for now it seems that this license will remain dormant.

Wynn used to own Atlantic City’s original Golden Nugget casino and over the years the company has considered returning to the city. However, since selling the Golden Nugget there has been no official Wynn presence in the state.

At present there are 15 online gambling sites in New Jersey, in the first month and a half of operation the sites took a combined total of almost $8.4 million.
