An official announcement from a PokerStars representative said that the world’s largest online poker room is set to invest up to $10 million in building a new poker room at the Resorts Casino. It is thought that construction of the room will begin as soon as the New Jersey Casino Control Commission grants PokerStars its online gambling license.

PokerStars is set to invest $10 million in building a poker room at the Resorts Casino in New Jersey.

Furthermore, the poker room is intended to serve as the official site for PokerStars’ future live poker events held in New Jersey.
This means that the Resorts Casino is likely to benefit from a large boost in attendance and profits.

The spokesperson also said that PokerStars is intending to set up its North American office in New Jersey.
The office will have at least 150 members of staff who will oversee PokerStars’ online gaming operations once interstate compacts are in place and successful enough to reach a nationwide audience.

There are fears that PokerStars’ involvement in the 2009 federal clamp down on internet gambling could hurt the company’s chances to operate in the New Jersey market. However, the announcement regarding the company’s plans to invest are likely to make regulators think more carefully about PokerStars’ application.
