World Series of Poker For Sale

The poker world was shocked this week by the news that Caesars Entertainment attempted to sell the Rio All-Suits Casino and the rights to the World Series of Poker to PokerStars.

World Series of Poker For Sale

Caesars Entertainment has offered PokerStars the chance to buy the World Series of Poker brand.

PokerStars spokesman Eric Hollreiser said that Caesars approached PokerStars to sell the assets as it would give them “a better relationship with Caesars and would help PokerStars gain a license in Nevada.” However, PokerStars turned the offer down.

The news came just one day after the American Gaming Association filed a brief asking that New Jersey Casino Control Commission to refuse PokerStars a license to operate the Atlantic Club Casino in Atlantic City.

This is not the first time that Caesars has tried to sell the Rio; however, it is the first time that the World Series of Poker brand has been offered.

PokerStars said that they turned down the offer because they did not wish to run another casino; however, there was nothing in their statement to suggest they aren’t interested in the WSOP.

Now that the brand is on the market it will be interesting to see if any others try to purchase it and what changes that would bring.
