For some reason a number of online gamblers are finding that their credit cards are no longer working a number of well-known online gambling sites.

One sports-book manager said that they are doing more “due diligence on customers and running their applications through well-known verification systems.” This seems to be a trend; another manager said that they would rather “refuse a deposit from someone who gets flagged by our systems than run the risk of charge-back and fraud.”

A number of online operators are struggling with the costs of credit card fraud.

Operators are having problems with chargebacks, when a customer disputes the deposit charge, which results in a large amount of documentation.

Now there are systems in place to flag players who are known as chargeback artists or even just because they have a low credit score, have moved recently or are in debt.

It seems that the problems effecting deposits are mainly affecting new players who are trying to use a credit card to make their first deposit.

Most operators want to see first deposits performed with any method but credit cards. Over time players then build up a trust relationship with their bookies and can start using credit cards.
