Zynga Buys Social Game Creators A Bit Lucky
Earlier this week social game maker Zynga announced that it has bought the Californian company A Bit Lucky and that the new members of staff will be joining Zynga’s San Francisco team.
Bill Jackson, the creative director at Zynga, said that the move was part of Zynga’s strategy to expand into “mid-core, multi-platform” games. A Bit Lucky has been working on a multi-player game called “Solstice Arena” which will be the first game released under the Zynga franchise.
A Bit Lucky was founded by Jordan Maynard and Frederic Descamps, there are just over 20 members of staff which have now been transferred to Zynga, including a number of people who have worked for game companies such as Xfire and Trion Worlds.
Descamps said that he and Maynard are “convinced Zynga is the best choice for us.” He believes that “At Zynga we met people like us passionate, hardcore game developers animated by a strong entrepreneurial spirit”.
Zynga has been trying to move away from its dependency on Facebook, as part of this they are developing a number of richer, more sophisticated games which can be enjoyed on multiple devices.
At present Zynga is working on a number of new releases which should be supported by all mobile devices.
