Largest Casino Resort in the World Set to Open
The “largest integrated resort in the world” opens tomorrow, April 11. The Sands Cotai Central is located on the Cotai Strip, Macau. The size of the new resort is a stunning 1,272,771 square meters – including 27,870 square meters of gaming space.
The Sands Cotai Central will have 6,000 hotel rooms. Only 1,800 rooms will be ready on opening day. The resort comprises a few hotels in the gigantic complex – Sheraton Towers (2,000 rooms), Sheraton Macao (2,000 rooms), Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Strip (1,400 rooms) and Conrad Macao (600 rooms).
$4 billion have been invested in the Sands Cotai Central. Tomorrow’s party is being touted as “Asia’s Biggest Launch Party of 2012”. There will be 2 casinos with a total of 530 tables. When you’re hungry, there will be 11 restaurants.
“There were few believers in my vision for the Cotai Strip when the site was basically under water,” said Sands China chairman Sheldon Adelson. “With the completion of Sands Cotai Central, that same spot will be home to thousands of hotel rooms, millions of square feet of retail, meeting and convention space, dozens of restaurants and so many other attractions.
“The opening of Sands Cotai Central is a game changer for the future of Macau as a leisure, entertainment and business location. On behalf of our entire company, we are proudly looking forward to introducing visitors from around the world to the largest integrated resort development ever constructed.”
