Singaporean Casino is Coming Along
The fight for Singapore’s first casino resort is hitting up. The Singaporean government is accepting offers form world leading casino operators for a designated resort which will be located at Singapore’s Marine Bay. There have been several offers made and the growing interest indicates that the first Singaporean casino ever is aiming for big success. Regardless for the small Singaporean population of 4.5 million people, the government and investors of the casino project are expecting the site to be a main tourist attraction and attract gambling lovers from around the world.
One of the main contenders for the contract is the famous MGM Mirage group, owner of some of the most luxurious and well known casinos in Las Vegas, and some world spread casinos as well. MGM Mirage wants to duplicate their Las Vegas successes and therefore offering a mixture of two worlds; the world of gambling and the world of entertainment. MGM Mirage has reached an agreement with the Canadian entertainment company Cirque de Soleil; the same company MGM has working in their Las Vegas casino hotels. Cirque de Soleil is in charge of the entertainment attractions in and had great response from the Vegas audience.
Another offer considered by the Singaporean government is the one made by the worlds leading casino entertainment provider, Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. The offer speaks about using the resort for a high tech theme park with global standards. This attractive facility could also be a good tourist attraction site and the Singaporean government is seriously considering both options. The resort’s fate will be announced mid-2006; hopefully that fate will include a casino in some way or another.
