Las Vegas Sands Websites Hacked by Anti-Adelson Activists

Earlier this week hackers broke into the websites of some of the world’s largest casinos. The attack appears to be linked to casino magnate Sheldon Adelson’s pro-Israel views with several websites run by Las Vegas Sands being taken over.

Las Vegas Sands corporate site was also attacked. Anyone visiting the site on Tuesday this week was shown a map with the group’s casinos around the world being replaced by images of flames. After this a scrolling list appeared showing employees’ social security numbers, emails and job titles. The sites were very quickly taken down once the attack was discovered.

Adelson is a strong supporter of Israel. The map posted on the site included a picture of him posing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alongside a message condemning the use of weapons of mass destruction. Last October Adelson said that the US should drop a nuclear bomb on Iran saying that strength was the only thing the country understands.

A Las Vegas Sands spokesman said that the company is working with law enforcement officials to investigate the incident. The Nevada State Gaming Control Board has also said that it is investigating.
