Just some weeks ago, a UK research showed that Antigua, a tiny country in the Caribbean is the world leader when it comes to online casinos, and Costa Rica is the proud second. So what makes those countries- which most people won’t even be able to find on a map – be such a magnet for online casino sites ? The answer isn’t too complicated – tax regulations. The online gambling companies take advantage of the fact that those tiny countries allow running such operations in their soil, and collect minimum tax.

Antigua not only leads the list, but it’s also considered the first country to offer real online casino licenses. Another well known host site for online casino companies is Gibraltar, which is also considered one the most prestigious locations for such a company to dwell in. It is not surprising then that many of the top online casino sites are based there.

Although those mentioned above are the most popular locations, they are by no means the only ones. Australia, for example, hosts hundreds of online casino web sites, all of them regulated and supervised by the government. The United Kingdom, who has recently condemned the US anti-online gambling bill, is also looking into Australia’s solution and has recently started to sell online casino licenses. Another peculiar example is the Kahnawake territory in Canada, which is mostly affiliated with one of the leading online casino software providers.
