According to a report by Deutsche Bank, Japan is the next frontier to be conquered by the online gambling markets. The report analyzed land gambling opportunities as well as online casino options. The online gambling industry has been keeping tabs on the Japanese economy for some time, with sporadic attempts to enter the markets. However, following a report by Deutsche Bank this week which stated that Japan could be the next frontier for the online gambling industry, now that many of the developed countries have been ‘discovered’ by the online gambling industry.

Japan already has a strong history of gambling, possessing the most slot machine like gambling devices of any country in the world. The potential of Japan should be noted because of the size of the market and the turnover of the slot-like devices. There are five million of these mini devices in Japan, which includes 1.9 million pachislot machines, devices that look like slots, but that involve some skill to play and pay off in prizes that can be converted to cash off-property. Casinos are illegal in Japan but pachislots are allowed because some skill in involved and the prizes are not actually paid out in cash.

Further potential for the Japanese market is revealed in the statistic that the average Japanese partakes in gambling twice as much as the average American. There is also talk that the Japanese government is considering legalizing Vegas-style casinos which would bring the excitement of gambling to those who do not own the mini gambling devices. With all these factors to consider, it looks like Japan will be the next to be hit by the online gambling storm.
