Online Casino Gaming Flunks Students

Published on December 11, 2006 by admin   ·   No Comments

With the constant rise in college tuitions and living expenses for today’s students in the US, it comes as no surprise that many turn to online casino gaming to help them pay their way through college without having to sign on bank account-breaking loans. Playing online casino poker or blackjack and winning huge sums of money is a great deal easier than working a regular part-time job to help make ends meet. All students need is a computer, a little bit of skill, and a love of the online casinos, and some find success without having to pay for the gas and car insurance they would have to worry about in order to get to a real job.

To many US students, playing at the online casino to earn extra cash looks very inviting and attractive. However, what many forget is that gambling is gambling – you can win, but most of the time, you lose. And losing the money you do have at the online casino is not the objective, and can be very painful, if not disastrous for most students. Many online casino poker players report it’s the intangibility of money when playing online that leads them into the hole. Online poker players don’t get hold chips or see cash, so the numbers on the computer screen present little threat.

Another problem has to do with that fact that the money these students play with is from credit cards. Students who lose money just dig deeper into the credit card hole as a source of cash to make back what they have lost at the online casino. And with the new Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act implemented into US law, online casino college students still do not seem perturbed or deterred from playing online.

Online poker has become the Internet’s most popular form of online casino gaming. Its rise in popularity can be traced back to televised poker tournaments such as the World Series of Poker. And now, with its popularity growing on college campuses all over the US, it could be the answer to some students’ prayers, and the downfall of many others.
